Yes, our only spoiler is from Thursday, and it’s just Ben upsetting Lola with a comment about Isaac. Which doesn’t sound good, does it? We’ve had Phil making comments about Isaac being a ‘nutcase’, and when Peter made comments about Isaac the other week we saw Lola lay into him, putting him straight. But it didn’t upset her as such, just annoyed her – so Ben’s comment sounds like it might come from a different angle, bringing Lexi into it perhaps; or perhaps the anger Lola felt before is now upset because of what’s happened to Isaac since then. Whatever Ben’s comment may be, I do hope that it’s ignorance that Ben can learn from rather than maliciousness, but either way I’m ready to call him out. I think they’ve done really well with Isaac’s story, showing the misconceptions for what they are as well as making it really clear that the person most at risk is Isaac himself, and even taking into account the extra layer of Isaac being a black man and bringing the police tasering into it as well; unnecessary force that, as Patrick pointed out, wouldn’t have happened if he were white. So I’m finding it interesting and wondering what Ben’s involvement turns out to be – as it sounds like whatever he says results in Lola standing her ground about visiting Isaac.
The ep is written by Amy Guyler, who wrote the punch up between Thompson, Callum and Stuart back in December, and then Callum telling Whitney about the stabbing last month. As always, we can hope for more Ballum content throughout the week, but as it stands this is our lot.
As with the last few weeks, these episodes will be released all in one go on Monday morning – but are scheduled throughout the week after coverage of the Olympics, so 9pm or later.
The charity football match Max is taking part in is later today at Woking FC – you can watch a stream of the match here from 2.45pm!
