Today’s the day – Callum is back! But there’s more angst to come, as we expected.
Mon 13th January – Jonny O’Neil
Martin orders Ben to keep Louise in check, and thus he issues her a stern warning. Callum turns up to see Ben at the car lot.
Tues 14th January – Jonny O’Neil
As Louise’s behaviour sends shockwaves through the Mitchell family, Phil is shocked to learn that Martin was the one Ben brought on board to kill Keanu. Ben spots Callum with a man and tries to sabotage things, assuming that it’s a date. Callum tries to get things back on track with Ben by insisting that he can handle his dodgy dealings, but Ben’s response shocks him.
Thurs 16th January – Johnny Candon
Rainie decides to meddle in Callum’s love life.
Fri 17th January – Colin Wyatt
Callum has to decide whether to attend the date that Rainie has arranged for him.
We’ve got two eps from legendary Jonny O’Neil this week, so that’s bound to mean good things for us. After Martin’s warning to Ben on Friday, he’s left to sort Louise out to try and stop her from cracking. And, of course, Callum returns to us! There have been no pics of him at all, so I’m very curious to see how he is. I hope he’s been looking after himself! He heads to the car lot to have it out with Ben, so clearly he hasn’t given up – perhaps thinking the thing Ben had to do before Christmas is over and maybe Ben will have changed his mind – but from what the spoilers suggest, Ben pushes him away again. I guess where Ben is concerned, even though he’s spiraling, he still has to keep Callum away from the darkness, ie him, especially now that he thinks he’s responsible for Keanu’s death. Doesn’t mean it won’t hurt to see Callum’s sad face again.
More Keanu stuff on Tuesday, with Phil finding out that Martin was the one to kill Keanu and berating Ben for it – and that’s going to sting for Ben; that even after getting involved in murder for Phil, it’s still not good enough.
Rainie takes it upon herself to get Callum back into dating – bit fast, but okay. And she makes sure Ben overhears her when she makes the plans. I’m not mad about the fact that Rainie is suddenly Callum’s biggest fan, and I’m sure another part of her relishes in making Ben jealous because she doesn’t like him anyway.
So when Ben sees Callum with a man, he assumes it’s a date and is furious, sabotaging it. It’s hard to predict what he’ll do considering we don’t know where this mistake takes place. I’d kind of imagined a public confrontation in the middle of the market, but it might make more sense to be at the Albert or the club, with Ben getting drunk in the corner and deciding it’s a really good idea to go over and cause a scene. Callum’s obviously going to be furious at Ben’s hypocrisy and I’m hoping he grabs his arm and drags him out, maybe back to the flat, to have a go at him. Apparently he’s got some home truths to dish out to Ben, and I have a feeling that’s going to be good. He tries again to convince Ben that he can handle his work (this pretty much confirms to me that whatever Ben was sabotaging, it wasn’t a date) and it leads to a ‘shock confession’ from Ben. I can’t see this being anything other than what happened at Christmas – and I can see Ben wanting to scare Callum off by delivering it as bluntly as he can – that he’s responsible for someone’s death, and is Callum really sure he can handle that?
Rainie’s still trying to sort Callum out with a date on Thursday – I’m stumped as to how things will progress for Ballum if Ben’s confession on Tuesday is about Keanu’s murder. Would Callum get up and leave after something like that? I can’t picture it, so I’m thinking Ben makes the admission and then takes his leave, assuming that Callum’s definitely not going to keep persuing him now. And that gives Callum time to think things over.
The police pay Phil a visit in relation to Keanu’s disappearance as well, which Ben listens in on. The pressure’s mounting…
And Friday is the day of Callum’s date that Rainie’s arranged for him. And the big question is whether he goes through with it. I feel a poll coming on. Personally, I think he’ll attend the date, but he’ll be distracted and either excuses himself to go find Ben, or will end up having a bit of a heart to heart with his date who tells him to follow his heart, or something along those lines. I think that would be really cute!
I keep flipping back and forth over whether Friday is too soon for a reunion – but I’m not sure how else it could go if Callum decides to ditch the date. Of course, he could end up going on the date and having a nice time, but ultimately I think he’ll have to prove Ben wrong, and sticking to his assertion that he decides who he deserves, and Ben doesn’t get to make decisions for him. Throw in the police career stuff and it gets even more complicated, so it’s really anyone’s guess how this week ends.
I’ve done a bingo card for the week (I know, you’re shocked.) Have fun and let’s try to enjoy the angst as it unfolds – as I think the payoff for us will be brilliant.
