Spoilers

The week ahead

Happy Monday guys. This week we’ll be seeing both Ben and Callum in the same episode! The bar has sunk quite low over the last few weeks.

Here’s what we have ahead of us:

Monday 5th August – Daran Little:
The aftermath of Phil’s attack continues, as some of Albert Square’s residents continue with a cover-up and others start to point the finger. One person is arrested, while another goes to dangerous lengths to cover their tracks.

Also today, Callum struggles to write his wedding vows.

Tuesday 6th August – Daran Little:
Phil is still at the hospital, where tensions are running high between his family members. One person learns a shocking truth about recent events.

Jay is shocked when he sees Ben at his worst, while Kat puts her plan into action. Meanwhile, with evidence continuing to mount up, the police close in on a suspect.

Thursday 8th August – Christopher Reason:
The police arrive to confront their suspect for Phil’s attack.

Finally, Whitney gets annoyed over Callum’s continued struggle to write his vows

Friday 9th August – Philip Lawrence:
Chantelle helps Whitney with her business promo. (No Ballum)

There’s really not much given away about this week – the spoilers are even more vague than usual, and only 14 pictures released when normally it’s a lot higher – so there’s bound to be something very dramatic happening. Tuesday in particular seems super vague!

So tonight, I can only guess that it’s the Slaters scrambling for an alibi, as Ben’s already set his up. I’d say Keanu must try as well – we know there’s an arrest happening tonight and it’s looking likely it’ll be Keanu. We know Ben is in the episode from this picture, as well as Callum trying to write his vows. I can’t see it being a big part of the episode but hopefully we will get the angst Tony delivers so well!

Tuesday, as I say, is basically a blank canvas, but Jay sees Ben at his worst, whatever this means, since, you know, he was literally there when Ben killed Heather. But whatever happens, the episode is written by Daran Little (as is tonight), who wrote the iconic ‘I Smell Queer’ scene. Whether this is significant remains to be seen…

Callum’s vow writing woes continue on Thursday, with Whitney getting annoyed. They always do this with Whitney – make her suddenly seem more demanding and high maintenance to highlight the struggle of her other half. Mick and Mitch, who for some bizarre reason, offer Callum advice this week, will probably suggest to Callum to write from the heart. But we all know he can’t do that. I had a few scenarios in my mind as to how Callum gets around his struggle – one, that he ends up writing from the heart but the words are to Ben. (As much as I would eat this up, I don’t think their relationship has reached that stage yet. They’ve only slept together once! Writing Ben a vow might be a 0 to 100 situation that even I’d struggle to buy. But the thought is still nice, in a fanfiction way.) Another, was that he ends up writing a coming out speech to read at the wedding. Another scenario that might be a bit premature, as we’ve seen him struggling even saying the word gay, and not able to admit it to Stuart either. In fact, he said he didn’t know what sleeping with Ben meant. Poor, confused boy. A third scenario was that he digs out letters he’d been sent from Chris (the army guy) for inspiration. A little crazy, granted. Anyway..

Nothing for us on Friday, but doesn’t mean they’re not in the episode. I’d hazard a guess that we’ll get some reference to the army this week to lead into next Monday, when a woman called Vicky arrives to give Callum heartbreaking news. So next week is memorial week! The theories on Callum’s backstory have been flying around – ranging from them being in the cadets, to Chris saving Callum’s life, to homophobic bullying within the army. A line from Jonno when he pinned Callum to the wall stuck with me: “You and your sick little mates – even when you were a kid.” It’s this line that gave me the idea that maybe Chris is a childhood friend, and Callum possibly loved him. Maybe the letters are old and Jonno once intercepted one and figured it out? It’s all very exciting, to have these little bits and clues but not knowing quite where they fit.

Anyway, enjoy your day and fingers crossed we get some good content to yell about tonight!
